Hampton Downs Motor Sport Park

Situated in North Waikato, approximately 40 minutes south of Auckland and similarly north of Hamilton, the Motor Sport Park is spread over 400 hectares of farmland.  The Park will, upon completion, incorporate an international class Grade 2 motor racing circuit, 80 trackside apartments, 12 industrial units, 15 rural lifestyle blocks and an industrial/business park.

Fraser Thomas is fortunate to have been appointed to manage the planning and development of the Park.  Involved from the beginning of this large and unique project, we have managed and supervised the progress, including obtaining consents, and overall design of the Motor Sport Park, associated Business Park, Apartments and Rural Lifestyle Subdivisions.  We have undertaken the civil, environmental, geotechnical and surveying aspects of the development.

Currently, the Park project is in the first stage of an eight stage development.  After two and a half years of negotiating for resource consents, they were ultimately obtained for the overall layout of the Park and the initial works were commenced on the 23rd February 2007. The site, adjacent to State Highway 1 and Hampton Downs Road, is starting its transformation with around 220,000 cubic metres of cut and fill earthworks, with the track being projected to be completed for use in October 2008.

For the project, Fraser Thomas is represented by managing director Dr Peter Goldsmith, who has also been employed as Project Manager for the Park. Administering the $120 million project through their company GP Farms Ltd, are two long-time motor sport enthusiasts, Tony Roberts and Chris Watson who have contributed valuable input to the project design through their extensive backgrounds in both racing and business.  The two men are the driving force which has propelled the Park project forward in its development.
