Fraser Thomas Appointed to Prepare
the Angkor Heritage Park Management Plan

Fraser Thomas have been appointed by the Authorite pour la Protection du Site et l'Amenagement de la Region d'Angkor (APSARA) to prepare a Management Plan for the Angkor Heritage Park.  In this they will be assisted by Boffa Miskell Ltd and Tourism Resources Ltd of New Zealand and the Angkor Participatory Development Organisation (APDO) a local NGO that has worked actively with the park communities.  This assignment is funded by a Bilateral Agreement between NZAID and APSARA

The assignment is to assist the efficient and sustained management of the Angkor Heritage Park in north-west Cambodia through the development and environmental improvement programmes designed with the participation of the Park communities, and in consultation with the Government, Non-Government and International stakeholders.

These programmes are to provide urgently needed solution to redress the poverty of the communities and to act as a catalyst for increased social and economic empowerment and livelihood improvement choices for these communities.

The preparation of the management plan and the community development and environmental programmes will be conceived and planned during an initial management-planning phase of seven months and are to be actioned over a subsequent five-year implementation phase.
